October Newsletter - DVAM 2024
It's been a busy Domestic Violence Awareness Month! Throughout October, we’ve worked tirelessly to raise awareness, support survivors, and drive action to address the epidemic of violence that affects millions worldwide. From holding powerful conversations in our KNOW MORE Global Dialogue Series to partnering on critical campaigns, we’ve reached millions of people with information and resources to help stop and prevent abuse. With your support, we’re committed to building on these efforts all year long.
To that end, exciting news… we have just announced the dates for NO MORE Week 2025: March 2nd through 8th. Get more information and ideas on how you can get involved here.
New KNOW MORE Global Dialogue Series Underway
This month, we launched the latest installment of the KNOW MORE Global Dialogue Series, an exploration of the many ways abuse can manifest across different stages of relationships – from dating to separation and beyond. The first session centered on survivors and the power of storytelling with Miss Kansas 2024 Alexis Smith, survivor, advocate and philanthropist Karoline Starostik, Wayfarer Studios CEO Jamey Heath, and actor, director and Wayfarer Studios chairman Justin Baldoni. The second session was held on October 30th and focused on recognizing the signs of abuse in the early stages of dating with Drew Crecente and Ray Epstein. You can watch these conversations on our YouTube channel here. We're grateful to all of our amazing panelists and we're looking forward to our next session, which will be held on.
Increasing Awareness Through the “No Excuse for Abuse” Campaign
We were proud to partner again with Investigation Discovery for the third annual No Excuse For Abuse campaign. This year, we’re joining to spotlight the critical issue of domestic violence through powerful content, including a PSA, a social media campaign, and a special program that premiered on October 27th hosted by Sunny Hostin and featured our own co-founder Jane Randel.
Partnering with Tinder to Present “Nailing Dating”
We teamed up with Tinder to promote positive and healthy dating behaviors through the Ten Tips for Nailing Dating campaign. As part of the collaboration, we co-hosted an exclusive event featuring a pop-up nail bar and interactive workshops focused on teaching participants to build healthy, respectful relationships from the start.
Empowering Every Voice at the Polls
Ahead of the US presidential election, we launched an effort to highlight the unique challenges survivors face when it comes to voting, including safety and privacy concerns. No survivor should be silenced. That’s why we created a comprehensive State Voting Guide for Survivors, designed to help survivors and their loved ones navigate their voting options. There's still time to make a safe voting plan. Don't forget to make your voice heard on November 5th, if not before.
